Student Stories: Zoe Sweet

In the fall of 2023, we asked several current students to tell us a little bit about their experiences here: what made them choose Widener, how they felt about that experience today, and how well they felt we were preparing them for their next steps.  Zoe Sweet, a class of 2025 student majoring in Political Science and English with a Legal Studies and Analysis minor, was one of the students who shared their responses.

When I received the Apogee Scholarship award, I wanted to pursue Widener since they had a program that allowed me to grow as a leader and helped me facilitate my professional growth. And my dad actually went to graduate school here, which I personally thought was interesting.

I've been able to be involved in so many different things here at Widener as a student and have been able to help with a week-long worth of events for last year's homecoming and this year's fall festival. My professors and everyone else who has supported me both academically and emotionally have truly set me up for success.

This last summer I was accepted into the ExperienceMORE program which allowed me to work in the Delaware County's Office of Public Defenders as a Criminal Investigator, and currently I'm interning at the US State Department, thanks to the connections I have made within the past two internships.

Widener and its community have been incredibly supportive throughout my entire journey as a student especially during turbulent times and I honestly feel like the university's message of belonging really resonated with my story.
