Honoring General John Tilelli, United States Army (Ret.)

General John Tilelli To my fellow alumni,

I am asking you today to join me by making a gift in honor of our friend General John Tilelli.

Since he earned his degree at Pennsylvania Military College in 1963, much has changed at the school; however, Widener remains dedicated to providing the best possible learning experience that emphasizes leadership mentoring and personalized instruction. But through these changes, John has made service to his fellow alumni and students a significant portion of his life. He has supported the school for more than 50 years, lending his time, talent, and treasure to help ensure that what we now know as Widener would build on the foundation of PMC and continue to produce alumni who are prepared to become the next generation of leaders in the community, nation, and world.

He has been an advocate for the Widener Fund, the PMC Museum, the Old Main Fund, leadership education, and the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Dauntless Battalion. Today, Widener is the host institution for 150 cadets from a half-dozen colleges and universities in the Philadelphia region, and John mentors those young men and women who continue our proud legacy of military service and who represent the leadership training that was so fundamental to his own PMC education and life.

John Tilelli as cadetJohn’s volunteerism culminated in his election to chairman of the Widener Board of Trustees, an assignment he recently completed with distinction. In honor of more than five decades of commitment to the university and the United States Army, Widener will be honoring John by naming the ROTC suite in Hanna Hall in his honor.

I invite you to join me in celebrating John’s dedication and service with a gift in his honor. Please use the form below or visit http://give.widener.edu/givepride. Your gift, can support any fund, program, or department on campus, and will immediately impact Widener’s students in John’s honor.

I have known John since 1959 when we were “rooks” in Howell Hall, and we later reconnected during our time stationed in Bamberg, Germany. John and his family have been among my closest friends and I cannot think of a more fitting way to honor him than to step forward and support this college, its history, and its future as he has done.

Thank you for your consideration,
