Build the Pride: Scholarships & Financial Aid

Chemistry Students in Lab

The opportunity they deserve. The responsibility we share.

  • Our mission is vital, but it doesn't come cheap. In 2020 alone, financial aid and scholarship commitments to our students came to $73 million—an enormous investment for Widener, especially in light of our relatively small endowment of $95 million.
  • Our work would not be possible without you. 95% of our students receive some sort of financial aid—most of which comes directly from Widener. The $1.25 million we receive from donors each year is the equivalent of $25 million in endowment.
  • We have all seen how important this funding can be. The Covid-19 pandemic has put incredible financial stresses on many families that are least able to bear them.  Scholarships, fellowships, and other forms of student aid give Widener the flexibility to support students for whom this aid is the difference between earning their degrees and not being able to.

  • Every dollar given makes a difference.  By providing funding for our students, you increase our ability to recruit talented and capable men and women to Widener, helping us to reduce their cost of attendance - and so reducing the cost that students have to bear.

Make a Gift to Support Student Scholarships

Make an impact through scholarships

Fund a named scholarship for one year

For a gift of $5,000, you may create a one year, named scholarship for a deserving student at Widener.  Your scholarship can bear the name of yourself, your family, a faculty member, or someone else important to you. and you can support a student pursuing a degree, major, or minor that you want to support.  When you give, you can be certain that 100% of your contribution will go to support student financial aid.

Help build one of our scholarships to endowment

Endowed scholarship funds in honor or memory of notable alumni and faculty help to provide important student support while ensuring that important legacies live on at Widener.  We are currently seeking funds for scholarships in memory of Joseph Conner, DPT, '12, '14, in honor of longtime faculty member Dr. Konstance McCaffree, or our LGBTQ Scholarship.  Your gift to any of these funds will help build a permanent, sustainable endowment for our students.
